Business owners were hiring board-up companies to protect their businesses from intruders. A local plywood company has gotten more business this week than in the entire year. Companies are calling them asking to buy plywood or have them come and install it. More than a thousand companies have put in a work order to have their entrances and windows boarded up. After the murder of George Floyd, many businesses also put in work orders for this, but only half the amount. This time around for the election, businesses are expecting way more backlash towards the businesses in the community. Businesses were boarding up but did not have a determined date for when they were taking the boards down because they don’t know how much time it is going to take for these protests to end.
